Lake Nakuru National Park was initially established as a rhino reserve and bird sanctuary, home to approximately 450 bird species which attract ornithological enthusiasts seeking to witness the spectacle of 1.5 million flamingos and various other bird species.  This park , while smaller in size compared to others in Kenya, presents a stunning view of the lake from its rock escarpment and is predominantly covered by wooded grasslands, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings near the lake shore.  The lake's high algae content historically attracted a large population of flamingos, alongside other thriving bird species, warthogs, baboons and various large mammals.
